I have appeared on various local television shows, including KCTS Connects, Northwest Week, and KCTS Cooks. My most notable appearance was in the nationally broadcast documentary The Meaning of Food.
The Meaning of Food
What is the meaning of food? A documentary producer asked me that question in 2003 when she called to chat about a project she's was working on. At first, her intention in contacting me was simply to inquire whether I'd be interested in being on the advisory panel for her documentary "The Meaning of Food," which would explore the diverse relationships of food to life, love, family, tradition, death. How could I say no? Over time, the producers discovered that the story of my life in food was just what they were looking for. Next thing I knew, there was a camera crew tailing me around Seattle and beyond to my family's home in Columbia, Missouri.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
When Tony comes to Seattle, we try to share a meal together. In June 2006, Tony and his Travel Channel crew came to Seattle to shoot some segments for his Pacific Northwest episode, which aired January 15, 2007. During a previous trip, he had come to my house for dinner and tasted my homemade potstickers. This time, he wanted to capture the potsticker making process on video. So Tony came over again for a lesson. Ultimately, the segment landed on the cutting room floor for the domestic version of the show. It did, however, make it into the international version.
